Image taken with Celestron Nexstar 11, F6.3 focal reducer, and Canon Xti Camera (ISO 200, 1/325 sec). Aligned and stacked 40 images with Registax4. Sky was mostly clear, high thin haze, temperature 12°F, no wind, and good transparency. The forecast for the upcoming week is for clouds and snow, probably no imaging for me for a while.  I can’t complain, the last few days of steady air have been fun!

The sun on Jan 26

Friday, January 26th, 2007

Activity is increasing lately with coronal mass ejects being seen off the east limb yesterday.  A new region is rotating over the east limb, though its not probably the one causing the excitement.

Saturn on Jan 24

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Image of Saturn on Jan 24, 2007 about 11pm MST. After processing some moon images from earlier in the evening, I realized that the turbulence was much better than I thought as Registax was making only 1 and 2 pixel adjustments (about 3 or 4 pixels less than usual). The air wasn’t quite as steady as earlier, but stil quite good about 6/10.  I had checked collimation earlier in the evening and it was pretty good, though in hindsight I should have tweaked it some and probably would have gotten better images.
