Sun on Dec 4
Image of the sun with Solarscope Ltd. 50mm halpha telescope.

And in white light with Stellarvue A1010 (80mm) refractor and baader filter.

Turbulence was maybe 5/10 in white light and noticably better (6/10) in h-alpha. Temperature was in the 54°F., no wind, clear sky, transparency excellent, and low humidity 30%. Images are rotated so that north is up and east is to the left.

Excellent shots!!.Hopefully,we get some good seeing in the next few days.Their is another huge sunspot coming into view on the eastern limb.SOHO has designated the spots number as 929 but, given the rotation period,I would that it is the same spot seen almost a month ago?!.
I really need a PST.Maybe,Santa will deliver one for me!.

The new spot has been producing a number of M class flares and a gigantic X9 class flare starting early this morning. I believe the new one is 10930. (The NOAA NWS Space Environment Center is the agency that assigns the active region numbers — I used to work there).
