The sun in h-alpha on April 22, 2006

An impressive group of prominence was visible on the sun’s northwest limb yesterday.

Above images taken with Solarscope Ltd 50mm h-alpha telescope, Teleview 2.5X Powermate and Canon 300D Rebel camera. Disk images 1/400 sec at ISO 400, prominences 1/80 sec at ISO 800. Sky was mostly clear, transparency was very good, no wind, temperature was 75°F, and turbulence was 6/10.
