Moon on Jan 3, 2006

A view of the moon tonight taken about three hours ago, 4 days after new. The atmospheric turbulence was probably as bad as it gets (1/10), temperature was 45 deg. F, wind 8 mph, and partly cloudy skies.  My view of the moon was blurred  50% of the time by torrents of air streaming by. I tried for tonights AAL lunar 2 targets: Mare Spumans, Sinus Concordiae, Taruntius, and Vallis Rheita.  I found them all but decided not to log a description as the seeing was so bad — maybe tomorrow. Equipment used was a Celestron Nexstar11, 0.62 focal reducer, and Canon 300D camera at ASA 400 and 1/500 sec shutter.
