The sun on Dec 28, 2005

Image of the sun on Dec 28, 2005. Lots of clouds, poor turbulence (4/10), temperature of 56 deg F, and 2-3 mph wind. I tried an halpha as well, but there were too many clouds. Equipment Stellarvue A1010, Baader Filter, Teleview 2.5X Powermate, and Canon 300D camera (1/250 sec, at ISO 100).

Moon on Dec 28, 2005

The waning crescent moon, now 26 days past new, was quite low to the horizon and between neighbors houses when I took this image earlier this morning. Atmospheric turbulence was poor (3/10) with thin clouds, no wind, and temperature was 44 deg. F. Equipment was a Celestron Nexstar11, 0.62 focal reducer, and Canon 300D camera, 1/30 sec exposure at ASA 400.

Moon and Spica

The crescent moon and Spica about 12 minutes before occulation Christmas morning. (Lunation 23 days).

About 5 minutes before occulation I switched to video. Here is the frame taken just before Spica disappeared.

Moon occulting Spica at 13:32 MST on Dec 25, 2005 Equipment used, top image Celestron Nexstar11, 0.62 focal reducer, and Canon 300D camera. Bottom image Nexstar11 and Phillips Toucam 740K webcam. Images taken through thin clouds and branches of my neighbors trees. Temperature was 45 deg F, no wind, turbulence 6/10.
